This is how it works:
When you buy your mountain railway ticket, Ferrovia Monte Generoso offers you a climate-neutral ticket for an additional CHF 1.00 per person (return journey). Camping Monte Generoso offers you a climate-neutral stay at the campsite for CHF 1.00 per night/plot and CHF 60.00 per year/plot. This means that the emissions generated by your mountain railway journey and your camping stay are offset with myclimate. At the same time, the mountain railways double your contribution and invest it in their own sustainability. In this way, you achieve a double effect.
Monte Generoso rises prominently in the middle of a well-known nature reserve. Standing majestically on the mountain’s rugged plateau is the new «Fiore di pietra» (stone flower). The building was created by the famous architect Mario Botta. Two restaurants flooded with light and a conference room with magnificent mountain views provide the ideal setting for fine dining, unforgettable family celebrations and exceptional corporate events. Since 1890, a rack railway has provided transport along a picturesque nine-kilometre stretch of mountain scenery carrying passengers from Capolago on Lake Lugano to the mountain summit at 1,704 m altitude. Monte Generoso offers visitors plenty of opportunities for relaxing strolls, more demanding hikes and for delving into history.
Camping Monte Generoso is located in a beautiful and shady natural park on an area of about 20'000 m² on the shore of Lake Lugano (270 m.a.s.l.) in the municipality of Melano. It is an ideal vacation resort for water sports fans and for outdoor recreation. It is situated barely 10 km south of Lugano, just 20 km from Como and a little more than 50 km from Milan, making interesting excursions possible.

Biodiversity Garden on Monte Generoso
In 2021, in collaboration with Azienda Agricola Bianchi and Erbe Ticino, edelweiss was planted in the biodiversity gardens in Rovio in Mendrisiotto, the main ingredient of the Monte Generoso herbal tea. In addition, 100 edelweiss were planted next to the Fiore di pietra on the summit of Monte Generoso. As part of the myclimate initiative, the price of each pack of Tisana Monte Generoso includes a contribution of CHF 1 to offset the CO2 emissions of the journey on the rack railway. For its part, the Ferrovia Monte Generoso doubles the amount, which is used to finance the biodiversity garden in Rovio and other Migros sustainability projects.
