When you register for the Jungfrau Marathon, CHF 2.00 per registration goes to sustainability projects. The «Cause We Care» contribution is doubled by the Jungfrau Marathon organisators.

How does «Cause We Care» work?

42,195 km, 1,839 metres of altitude and the most beautiful marathon course in the world. The spectacular Jungfrau Marathon at the foot of the "Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau" captivates running enthusiasts from all over the world. It is a "once in a lifetime" experience in a unique scenery.

The running event Jungfrau Marathon touches on the social, ecological and economic aspects of sustainability. Free travel by public transport within Switzerland for participants has already been implemented. Logistics services and the transportation of participants are mainly done by train. The transportation bags for runners will soon be made of recycled PET bottles and can be reused as a shopping bag. The printed matter for the event is produced in a climate-neutral way. In catering, disposable tableware will be eliminated. The strategic anchoring of sustainability is a high priority for the organisers of the event.

«Cause We Care» measures

Transportation Bags made from recycled PET bottles (planned 2021)

The organisers of the Jungfrau Marathon will soon provide environmentally friendly transportation bags for all participants. The funky bags are made from recycled PET bottles and are available in six different colours. They can be reused as shopping bags, for example.

Free travel by public transport within Switzerland (planned 2021)

In the heart of Europe and Switzerland, Interlaken is easy to reach. With the SwissRunners ticket, all participants will travel free of charge by public transport within Switzerland to Interlaken and back.

Elimination of disposable tableware in catering (planned 2022)

A pasta plate is included included for all participants. The aim of the organising committee is to eliminate disposable tableware as quickly as possible and to switch to reusable/recyclable tableware.

Climate-neutral printed matter

ILG AG WIMMIS produces its printed matter for Jungfrau Marathon in a climate-neutral way. This successful cooperation has been in place for many years. At the same time, the amount of paper produced annually is reduced.
